What’s the deal with MACROS?
If you have been following me and reading my blogs you know I’m all about clean eating and I do NOT do dieting! As a Certified Health Coach & Personal Trainer I find that diets are the mega failure plan for weight loss and reaching your goals. Yeah, you might lose a few lbs here and there but whenever you stop the diet you'll gain the weight all over again, plus diets are very restrictive and no ones wants a life like that!
So I preach CLEAN EATING and learning how to just eat wholesome nutritious foods instead of highly processed junk. Now this may sound easy for some, but there is still more to the equation than just clean eating to reach your fitness or wellness goals. This is where MACROs come into place.
Recently macros have become an essential part of my life and in the beginning of this whole macro journey I wasn't sure if I’d be able to keep up but I’ve been going at it strong and it has shown me many benefits!
Ok I know you're wondering… What the heck are MACROs and how can they help me lose weight and enable me to reach my wellness goals?
Macronutrients are the essential components of our daily diet. There are three major macronutrients: carbohydrates, protein, and fat.
Counting and focusing on macros for weight loss is a highly effect way to reach any weight loss goal because you are giving your body exactly what it needs by macro count and not just by food count or calorie count.
The way counting macros works is:
#1. You figure out what your goal is.
Ex: To lose weight
#2. You figure out your specific macro count in grams for each macro.
#3. You focus on hitting your daily macro goals while clean eating.
#4. You start to lose weight and look great!
Sound simple right? Essentially it really is once you get the hang of it and create a sense of accountability. I have found this method to be very great and it’s an easy way to track your nutrition. Now of course you want to clean eat while doing so because trust me those macros will add up and put you over if you aren’t! I’ve tested this method out personally and I can tell you IT WORKS! And I have many clients who follow the same method with results.
It takes the pressure off if you eat a “cheat meal.”
It provides flexibility.
It provides accountability.
Takes the pressure off calorie counting.
And more importantly, your body will love you for it!
